Julia Wissert, born in 1984 in Freiburg, studied theatre and media production at the University of Surrey in London with Felix Barrett (Punchdrunk), Kasia Zaremba-Byrne (NIE) and Habib Nagmouchin (Théâtre du Soleil). After her studies she worked as assistant director at the theatres in Freiburg and Basel and at the Staatstheater Oldenburg. There she showed the production of Haram by Ad de Bont in 2010 and was responsible for various small projects. At the beginning of 2013 she directed Das Interview by Theo van Gogh at the Young Theatre Göttingen. From 2011 to 2014 she studied directing at the Mozarteum Salzburg. In 2014 she received the Kurt-Hübner-Regiepreis for her diploma production Der Junge in der Tür at the Staatstheater Wiesbaden. She works as a freelance director at the Gorki Theater Berlin, Ballhaus Naunynstrasse Berlin, Staatstheater Oldenburg, Theater Brno in the Czech Republic and Luzerner Theater. 2069 – Das Ende der Anderen in the 2018/2019 season is her first production at Schauspielhaus Bochum.
