Sascha Kühne studied set design and costume design at the Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart with Martin Zehetgruber and Bettina Walter. After leaving school, he first studied mechanical engineering before working as a packaging designer for a year. He gave up the job to illustrate children's books for the following two years and finally returned to Stuttgart to study. Before and during his studies, he gained experience as an assistant director and set designer for theatre productions in the Stuttgart area, including René Pollesch Was hält uns zusammen, Lukas Maser Heimat and Axel Brauch Jahreszeiten. In the course of this, he began designing sets for films (Kurschatten, Arte; Misty - Erroll Garner, SF1 and Canal+) and his first own stage and costume design followed for Antigone - Ein Requiem by Damien Dlaboha. Since 2021 he has been a guest, now permanent, stage design assistant at Schauspielhaus Bochum. During his time in Bochum, he worked on Macbeth, Woyzeck, Hoffen und Sehnen, Wer hat Angst vor Virginia Woolf?, Voodoo Waltz and Die Brüder Karamasow, where he also took over video and live camera work.
