Martina van Boxen is a director, actress and author. She studied visual communication in Düsseldorf and completed her acting training at the University of Music and Drama in Hanover. She then worked at various theatres as an actress and director before becoming the artistic director and managing director of Theaterwerkstatt Hannover for twelve years. From 2005 to 2018 she directed the Junge Schauspielhaus Bochum and from 2019 to 2021 the Junge Staatstheater Kassel. She regularly directs for, but also with, children, young people and adults. Her works have won several awards and have been and are represented at festivals at home and abroad. In 2018 she was awarded DER FAUST (German Theatre Prize) in the category Regie KJT.
