Otto Beatus, born in Sankt Augustin (Rhineland), works as a pianist, arranger and composer. He studied school music at the Musikhochschule in Cologne and has been engaged as a theatre musician at many German theatres since the early 1980s. He has performed in Düsseldorf, Bonn, Heidelberg and Karlsruhe. From 1991 to 2001 he was musical director at Schauspiel Wuppertal. From 2001 to 2004 at the Staatsschauspiel Dresden and from 2004 to 2013 at the Theater Oberhausen. Since 2013 he has worked as a freelancer. He has been collaborating with Herbert Fritsch since a long time, leading him to the Berlin Theatertreffen with Nora oder Ein Puppenhaus in 2011. During the 2018/19 season at the Schauspielhaus Bochum he will be the musical director of Herbert Fritsch's production Die Philosophie im Boudoir.
