Bert Luppes was born in 1955. He studied acting at the Theater Academy in Maastricht and was one of the founders of the theatre group het Vervolg. His collaboration with director Johan Simons started in 1982. Since the theater group ZTHollandia was founded in 1985 he has been a permanent member of this company. He also performed with Het Toneelhuis, Carver and Theater Artemis. Since 2014 he has been teaching at the Maastricht Academy of Dramatic Arts. He has also acted in a variety of feature films and television series. In 2003 he received the Dutch acting award Louis d‘Or for his role in Friday directed by Johan Simons. In 2009 he won a second Louis d‘Or for his role in The Goat or, who is Sylvia?, directed by Miriam Koen. In 2017, the VPRO series Alleen op de wereld (Alone in the world) in which he played the role of Vitalis was nominated for an International Emmy Kids Award. At the NTGent he has worked with several directors such as Luk Perceval, Julie Van Den Berghe, Peter Verhelst, Liliane Brakema and Johan Simons. In the 2018/19 season, he can be seen in the production Orest in Mossul, directed by Milo Rau, at Schauspielhaus Bochum.
