Mehdi Moradpour is an author, interpreter and translator for Farsi, Dari and Spanish. He grew up in Tehran as the son of Azerbaijani parents and studied physics and industrial engineering in Iran. He broke off his studies in 2001 and came to Germany. After learning German and completing a technical training programme, he studied Hispanic Studies, Sociology, American Studies and Arabic Studies in Leipzig and Havana from 2004.
Moradpour worked in various roles in the independent theatre scene in Leipzig and Berlin and wrote journalistic articles about theatre and culture. From 2014 to 2016, he attended the Forum Text (Drama Forum) course at uniT Graz. Between 2020 and 2023, Mehdi Moradpour worked as a dramaturge at the Münchner Kammerspiele, including with directors Pınar Karabulut, Nele Jahnke and Tea Tupajić, choreographer Michiel Vandevelde and the documentary theatre group Porte Parole from Québec. Mehdi Moradpour has been a dramaturge at Schauspielhaus Bochum since the 2023/2024 season. In 2023 his book ein körper ohne ort (a body without a place) was published in the Suhrkamp Theater series.
