Marlene Helling, born in 1993 in Lübbecke (North Rhine-Westphalia), works as a theatre maker and performer and lives in Bochum. She first completed a degree in Cultural Studies and Aesthetic Practice in Hildesheim and then obtained a Master's degree in Scenic Research at the Ruhr University Bochum, where she has been developing her own dance and video performances since 2020, which deal with social, ecological and feminist issues. Her work has already been shown in various venues, including the Ringlokschuppen Ruhr in Mülheim an der Ruhr, the Maschinenhaus Essen, the Theater im Depot in Dortmund, the Rottstraße5-Kunsthallen in Bochum and in Viersen an der Niers. She is the artistic director of the residency programme at Kunsthaus Helleweg. She was also a resident at HELLERAU - European Centre for the Arts and is currently a resident at PACT Zollverein in Essen. She is currently the recipient of the Christoph Schlingensief Scholarship from the Kunststiftung NRW.
