Eleanor Bauer was born in 1983 in Santa Fe, New Mexico (USA). She is a performer and choreographer who works at the intersection of dance, text and music. Her versatile works range from talk shows to full-length ensemble pieces. She studied at the Idyllwild Arts Academy in California, holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from New York University, completed the research cycle at P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels and is a PhD student in Choreography at the University of the Arts Stockholm. She has worked with choreographers including Xavier Le Roy, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Boris Charmatz, Trisha Brown, Mette Ingvartsen, David Zambrano, as well as visual artists Matthew Barney and Emily Roysdon and the Ensemble Ictus. Since 2003 she has been working closely with the musician and composer Chris Peck. She produces her own pieces and tours internationally with great success. Her works have been shown at the Kaaitheater, Brussels; the Ruhrtriennale (2016: Meyoucycle); the Kunstenfestivaldesarts, Brussels; the Festival Rencontres choréographiques, Paris; the Dansenshus, Stockholm; in De Singel, Antwerp; the NEXT Festival, Kortrijk; the Festival D'Automne à Paris; the American Realness Festival, New York and PACT Zollverein, Essen. New Joy in the season 2018/2019 is her first creation at the Schauspielhaus Bochum and her first work at a German municipal theatre, for which she brings together ensemble actors and freelance dancers.
