Judith Skupien was born in Offenbach am Main and completed her Bachelor's degree in "Theatre and Media" at the University of Bayreuth. In Berlin she played violin in various bands and collaborations with Music genres from pop, electronic, hip hop to traditional Senegalese music and a cover orchestra for the music of Oum Kalthoum. She has assisted directors such as Jürgen Kruse, Herbert Fritsch, Lies Pauwels and others. Since the 2017/2018 season, she has been a permanent assistant director at Schauspielhaus Bochum. There she staged Die kleine Meerjungfrau (2018), Das Traumfresserchen (2018, video installation), Bochumer Ermittlungen (In collaboration with Johan Simons, 2019), Aufbruch 1919: 100 Jahre Symphoniker, Schauspielhaus und Stadthistorisches Museum (2019 at Anneliese Brost Musikforum Ruhr), Des Meeres und der Liebe Wellen (2019, Scenic Reading), Kaos auf dem Bauernhof (Junges Schauspielhaus, 2020).
