Keimpe de Jong, born in 1957, studied at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague from 1976 to 1981. Since 1984 he has worked as a saxophonist, director, composer and author. He composed music for television, mainly for children's programmes. Since 1994 he has also worked for larger theatre groups such as Ro Theater, De Appel, het Zuidelijk Toneel or Wittenbols/Ligthart. For the last ten years he has worked regularly with Jetse Batelaan and Theater Artemis, both as a composer and on stage. In Rotterdam he is known for his musical events, community art projects and his work with children. Every year he writes and conducts concerts with more than 600 school children for the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and the New Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra. He also initiated jazz concerts for retirement homes on behalf of NorthSeaJazz. Most recently he completed the television series Home Sweet Home. An online video opera, commissioned by the Operadagen Rotterdam. At Schauspielhaus Bochum he is responsible for the music in The Invisible Man for the 2020/2021 season.
