Darren O’Donnell, born in 1965 in Edmonton, Canada, is an essayist, playwright, director, stage designer and performer and the founder of Mammalian Diving Reflex a Canadian artist collective. In 2000 he received the media prize Gabriel Award for outstanding artistic achievements for his audio drama Like a Fox. Social Acupuncture (2006) is among his numerous publications on the artistic form of participation. In 2018 he published the book Haircuts by Children, and Other Evidence for a New Social Contract which proposes the cultural sector as a site to pilot a new social contract with children. Darren O’Donnell is a trained actor and holds a Master’s degree in Urban Planning. For Junges Schauspielhaus Bochum he realizes the project Bespiel Mal Bochum!.
