Robin Koek, born in the Netherlands in 1987, has completed a Master of Arts in Sound Design at the Utrecht School of the Arts, Faculty of Music Technology in 2011. He is active as a sound artist, educator and designer of artistic systems. His work reflects on the environment integrating field recordings and site-specificity in composition and installation practice, researching the spatial nature of sound in both the physical and virtual realm. He constructs immersive experiences at the intersections of these worlds merging analog, digital and acoustic phenomena. He has worked on productions with Artery, Toneelgroep Oostpool and the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam amongst many others. Koek’s compositions and sound sculptures have been presented worldwide, supported with grants for international presentation and development by the Performing Arts Fund NL and Creative Industries Fund NL. At Schauspielhaus Bochum, he is together with Warre Simons designing the sound for Johan Simons’s production of King Lear in the 2020/2021 season.
