Oliver Frljić, born in 1976 in Bosnia-Herzegovina, studied philosophy, religious studies and directing in Croatia, where he lives and works as a director, writer, actor and theorist. He has received several awards for his productions and has been invited to international festivals, including in 2010 with his work Mrzim istinu! (En. I hate the truth!) he was invited to the Vienna Festival or with his play Damned to be the Traitor of his Homeland!, which he staged at the Mladinsko Theater in Ljubljana, to the history festival War or Peace at the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin. Most recently, his production Black Box Schule, developed at the Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf, was selected for the Heidelberg Stückemarkt. From 2014 to 2016 he was artistic director of the Croatian National Theater in Rijeka. In protest against Croatian cultural policy, he announced his resignation in spring 2016. Since the 2019/2020 season, he has been in-house director at the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin.
