Nils Kahnwald, born in Marburg in 1984, completed his acting training at the Berlin University of the Arts. While still a student, he played several guest roles at the Deutsches Theater Berlin and the Maxim Gorki Theater, Berlin. From 2009 to 2013 he was an ensemble member at Schauspiel Frankfurt. He appeared there as Peer Gynt (director: Antú Romero Nunes) and worked for the first time with Christopher Rüping, in whose direction he appeared in Woyzeck, among others, and with whom he has had a close working relationship ever since. From 2013 to 2017 he was in the ensemble of Schauspiel Zürich, acting in productions by Karin Henkel and René Pollesch and Antú Romero Nunes, among others. From 2017 to 2019, he was an ensemble member at the Münchner Kammerspiele and was named Actor of the Year in 2019 by the trade magazine Theater heute for his roles in Dionysos Stadt (directed by Christopher Rüping). After two further seasons at Schauspiel Zürich (2019/20, 2020/21), Nils Kahnwald worked as a freelance actor for theatre and television as well as for radio play productions.
