Wolfgang Menardi, born in Innsbruck (Austria) in 1977, studied acting at the Otto Falckenberg School in Munich from 1998 to 2002. His studies were followed by engagements at the Munich Kammerspiele, the Théâtre National de la Colline Paris, the Théâtre National de Strasbourg, the Thalia Theater Hamburg, Schauspiel Köln, the Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel Munich and the Ruhrtriennale. In addition to his acting activities, he began studying architecture at the University of the Arts in Berlin in 2005. This led to work as a stage and costume designer in France and Germany from 2007 onwards, including at the Theater Basel, the Deutsches Theater Berlin, the Burgtheater Vienna, the Munich Kammerspiele and the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin. In 2014, he was nominated for the set design of Goethe's Urfaust and in 2015 for the set design of LSD - Mein Sorgenkind in the critics' poll of the theatre journal Theater Heute as best young artist and set designer. In 2019, he was nominated for the German theatre prize Der Faust for the production Genesis at the Munich Kammerspiele. He regularly collaborates with directors Thom Luz, Yael Ronen, Thorleifur Örn Arnarsson, Falk Richter and Bastian Kraft.
