Warre Simons, born in 1990, studied jazz guitar and classical composition at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. His compositions have been played at venues such as De Nationale Opera and Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ. He has composed music for theater companies such as Internationaal Theater Amsterdam, the theatre collective Wunderbaum, NTGent, Münchner Kammerspiele, Wiener Burgtheater and Thalia Theater. In 2013 he also debuted as a director at Theater Bellevue in Amsterdam. Since then he has directed and written several plays which have been performed at festivals such as Oerol and Over Het IJ Festival. In the summer of 2018 he also debuted as an opera director at Het Grachtenfestival. Together with Robin Koek he creates the music for Johan Simons staging of King Lear at Schauspielhaus Bochum in the 2020/2021 season.
