Peter Baur, born in 1983 in Mühlacker near Stuttgart, works as a stage designer, costume designer and video artist for performance, theatre and film projects.
In 2003 he began his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. He studied stage design with Erich Wonder and as a guest artist with Eva Schlegel and Matthias Herrmann. At the same time, he also began studying architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts. After completing his stage design diploma, Baur moved to the visual arts department in the class of Monica Bonvicini. During his studies he assisted Erich Wonder and Bernhard Kleber.
Together with Sibylle Dudek, Falko Herold, Edgar Selge and Franziska Walser, Peter Baur created Iphigenie auf Tauris in 2011, the production premiered at the Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen and at the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin. He has a continuous collaboration with the director Bastian Kraft, among others at the Deutsches Theater Berlin, the Residenztheater München, the Burgtheater Wien, the Schauspielhaus Wien and the Schauspielhaus Graz. In addition to his work as a decorator, Peter Baur produces his own artistic projects for museums and public spaces. Based on personal experiences and self-experiments, he deals with topics such as home, adolescence and sexual identity.
