Lene Schwind studied fashion design in Munich and worked for Hugo Boss and Vivienne Westwood, among others, during her studies. She found her way to the theatre through guest assistantships at the Schauspielhaus Zurich and the Theater Basel; her first costume designs for productions in Basel and for the HFF in Munich were also created during this time. This was followed by assistantships at Schauspiel Frankfurt in productions by Thalheimer, Kriegenburg and Kosky. She has been an independent costume designer since 2011. Since then she has worked closely with Christopher Rüping, which has taken her to the Thalia Theater Hamburg, Staatstheater Stuttgart, Deutsches Theater Berlin and the Münchener Kammerspiele, as well as an invitation to the 2015 Theatertreffen. She has also worked with directors Oliver Reese, Benedikt von Peter and Florian Fiedler.
