Pierre Bokma was born in 1955 in Paris (France). He studied acting at the Maastricht Theatre Academy (Netherlands) from 1978 to 1982. Since then he has played numerous formative roles in theatre and film. Engagements have taken him to the Publiekstheater, the Toneelgroep Amsterdam, the NTGent in Belgium, the Münchner Kammerspiele and the Ruhrtriennale, among others. Pierre Bokma has received numerous awards for his acting. He received the most prestigious theatre awards in the Netherlands, the Albert van Dalsumring, the Paul Steenbergen-penning, two Louis d'Or as best actor for Richard III. 1994 and 2013 for his performance in De verleiders, 1993 a Gouden Hart for the role of Iago in Othello, 2004 an Arlecchino as General Ezra Mannon in Mourning Becomes Electra. He has won four Gouden Kalveren (the Dutch Academy Awards) and two De Beeld en Geluid (the Dutch Golden Globes). He has appeared in Dutch television series and international cinema productions. In 2007 he received an International Emmy Award for his role as Peter van der Laan in De Uitverkorene (The Chosen One). Since the 2018/2019 season he is a member of the ensemble of Schauspielhaus Bochum.
