Steven Scharf, born in 1975 in Leinefelde, studied acting at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Rostock from 1996 to 2000. His first engagements took him to the Theaterhaus Jena and the Schauspiel Köln. From 2002 to 2006 he was a member of the ensemble at the Theater Basel and from 2007 to 2015 at the Münchner Kammerspiele under Frank Baumbauer and Johan Simons. He has appeared at the Deutsches Theater Berlin and the Burgtheater in Vienna. He has worked with directors such as Claudia Bauer, Albrecht Hirche, Sebastian Nübling, Stephan Kimmig and Johan Simons. In 2013 he was voted Actor of the Year for his performance in Plattform (directed by Stephan Kimmig) by the theatre journal Theater heute and was awarded the Gertrud-Eysoldt-Ring for his performance of Judas (directed by Johan Simons) in the production of the same name. He was also awarded the AZ-Stern des Jahres 2013 in the acting category. In 2019 he was awarded the Nestroy Prize for best actor. From 2018 to 2024 he played at Schauspielhaus Bochum. He joined the ensemble at the Residenztheater in Munich for the 2024/2025 season.
