This series of events invites people from Bochum to come together in order to discuss how to improve protecting the climate and sustainability, to form networks together and to inspire each other. Local people, those with positions of responsibility in the city and experts take part on detailed discussions. The Forum will be held monthly and examine a different theme each time.

How do the others do it?

What can Bochum learn from other cities? The climate community of Saerbeck serves as a model for many places around the world. Zerocity Dortmund! Sounds good, but what does it actually mean? How did Bocholt become a bicycle-friendly city? Does Bochum also need a climate council like Münster and what could it achieve? And the city of Bonn now has a coordination office for culture and sustainability. - We want to present some of these examples and discuss them with you and experts at our 9th edition of the Climate Forum.

29.05.2022: Topic: Economy

Money makes the world go down? What alternatives are there to our economic system? What about the common good economy? Neighborhood help, bartering, systems that do without money? Or what about the so-called "true costs" that would immediately make many non-sustainable products or projects more expensive because, for example, disposal or damage to the environment are not properly factored in? And how sustainable are the procurement guidelines of the city of Bochum? That's what we'll be talking about with experts and you at our seventh edition of the Climate Forum.

27.03.2022: Topic: Urban planning

Concrete desert or green urban jungle - what should it look like, the city of the future? How much say do we citizens have in these decisions? Bochum is one of the most sealed cities in Germany. How climate-friendly is our existing building stock, and what does sustainable building look like? There are many ideas for rethinking cities, but do we actually use them? That's what we'll be talking about with experts and you at our sixth edition of the Bochum Climate and Sustainability Forum.
