Risto Kübar, born in 1983 in Kose (Estonia), studied acting at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre from 2002 to 2006. His first engagement was at the NO99 Theatre in Tallinn from 2006 to 2013. With NO99 he was also involved in the international co-production Three Kingdoms by Simon Stephens (directed by Sebastian Nübling), which also took him to the Münchner Kammerspiele. There he was a member of the ensemble from 2014 to 2015, then at NTGent until 2018. He worked with directors such as Johan Simons, Benny Claessens and Florian Fischer. For his performance in Orpheus steigt herab by Tennessee Williams (directed by Sebastian Nübling), Risto Kübar was voted Young Actor of the Year 2013 by the theatre journal Theater heute. In 2016 he received an Arlecchino as best actor for his role in Dit zijn de namen after Tommy Wieringa (directed by Philipp Becker). Since the 2018/2019 season he is a member of the ensemble of Schauspielhaus Bochum.
