Text
A play, a debate, a game.
Time is short, the journey is expensive, the challenge is overwhelming – we are talking about the climate crisis. The transformation towards a sustainable world means an enormous social change process and requires efforts from everyone – from individuals to local communities, municipalities, countries and the world. This gives rise to enormous tensions that need to be recognised and dealt with.
The long battle for Hambach Forest has become the symbol of the climate protection movement of the 21st century in Germany. Against this backdrop, a place for debate, negotiation and a change of perspective is being created in St Anna's Church in Bochum-Hamme with various participants in the Hambi conflict and the Schauspielhaus Bochum ensemble. The church space becomes an escape room: the visit becomes a puzzle in which tasks are solved together in order to progress. The audience, ensemble and experts playfully battle their way through the areas of conflict in Hambach Forest until a shared poetic moment emerges.
